Personal Training, Movement and GYROTONIC® Classes for Indianapolis
Whole-Body Workouts That Leave You Feeling Great After Every Session
The ability to move well is vital to aging well. A lack of mobility threatens your independence. Lifelong dancer and fitness instructor Leslie Whitesell knows consistent movement is the key to decreasing pain, building strength, and feeling better – no matter your age.
Offering one-on-one personalized training sessions and small group classes, Leslie uses gentle movements and specialized equipment for a whole-body workout that leaves participants feeling better every time they walk out of the fitness studio.
Creating a Peaceful Place for Body, Mind, Spirit
A lifelong dancer with a background in ballet, modern dance and competitive ballroom dancing, Leslie discovered the GYROTONIC method in 2008. She thought the additional movement and strength would improve her ballroom dancing technique. Leslie fell in love with the GYROTONIC exercises and earned her certification in 2012.
After teaching at other studios around the country for years, Leslie opened Inala Movement Studio in 2020. The studio is named in honor of Leslie’s grandfather, Frank Whitesell, who used it as the name of his summer camp in Maine. The word “Inala” means “peaceful place.”
Leslie hopes the studio is a peaceful place for people to come to explore and learn about movement, dance, and how their bodies work. At the same time, through the study of movement and breath, she hopes to enable people to cultivate a peaceful place inside of themselves that they are able to carry with them wherever in the world they may go.
“From the first class I went to a few years ago, I fell instantly in love with the magic of Leslie’s teachings of GYROKINESIS. I get totally lost in another world, like a kid playing these body-mind puzzles. She guides us through this journey of movement, breath, and rhythm with her soothing voice and presence. This work is energizing and calming at the same time. Whatever pain or troubles I have disappear, physical or mental.”

“Leslie is a master at her craft! Her ability to assess physical needs and work with her clients to meet goals is stellar. For me, these classes are a combination of Pilates, yoga, tai chi, and physical therapy – but better! She is the answer to my ongoing quest for help with my body. Stretching, improving posture, flexibility, balance and finding muscles to support this. Everyone can benefit from the practice of GYROTONIC, especially as we age. As a RN of nearly 50 years, I wish she could be in every internal medicine office! My posture has improved, I’m breathing more efficiently and am SO happy Leslie is a part of my life!!”
